落葉歸根
Falling leaves eventually return to their roots.      - Ancient Chinese idiom
This two-page spread graphic memoir was inspired by my first trip to Mainland China, visiting my grandmother's hometown after her passing. The memoir is about one of the most profound memories she often related to me as a child. It was a brave decision that impacted not only her life but also the generations after her. Her experience as a two-time immigrant, first to Taiwan and then subsequently to the USA,  makes me wonder if it impacted my life as an immigrant of three countries on three continents.
For my dear Puo Puo, who has inspired so much courage, curiosity, and love in my life.
